Bye Bye Comment Verification

The moment you've all been waiting for has arrived. I learned how to turn off that pesky word verification thingy (yes, "thingy" is it's official term. look it up.) when you leave comments.

Another blog I read promised that you get more comments when people don't have to be bothered to fill out that form. Not sure if that is true or not, but at any rate, the commenters I do have will be less annoyed!

You're welcome. I'm counting this as my good deed for the day. *snicker*

  1. i have to say that since blogger started their spam detection-i have not had one spam comment-i used to get them quite a bit and then have to delete them-hasn't been a problem. i don't like the word verification but it doesn't stop me from making a comment-i know though that some of my comments have been lost because i don't realize there is word verification and leave the blog thinking my comment is all set

  2. I turned this off from the very beginning--I realize why people have it turned on, but I will say, it really hangs me up when I am buzzing through a link party to have to stop and put in a word. lol Thanks for letting everyone know that it can be turned off!!

Glad to have found you through Serenity Now's link party :)

  7. It does certainly help with comments when you have word verification turned OFF. I noticed more comments after I turned mine off. Blogger's spam detection is much better than it used to be. :)

Thanks so much for joining my Weekend Bloggy Reading party. :)

  9. Interesting. I don't have word verification on my blog, but I do have the comment moderator option on. I used to get some nasty comments about my family size and I just got sick of them getting any attention, so I switched to the moderator so that they get sent to me first, via email, and then I choose whether or not to publish it. When you type a comment on my blog, it's easy enough...there is no word verification to type up...and once you hit "send" it just doesn't show up on the blog until I publish it, which is usually right away because it gets sent to me in email (and I have a smart phone, so I get my emails all the time) Anyway, do you think the moderator option deters people from leaving a comment? I don't get all that many comments, but I just chalked it up to not having but 104 "followers" -- I will admit that I do not like filling out the word verification myself, but it never stops me from leaving a comment :)
