Samaritan's Purse-Guidan Gado
"In Guidan Gado, Niger, a drought and outdated farming methods have caused starvation and an exodus of young men from the village. Through Raise a Village, Samaritan's Purse hopes to change the lives of these people." (Samaritan's Purse)
You may remember that Samaritan's Purse is one of my favorite ministries. Run by Billy Graham's son, Franklin Graham, they do a host of ministry and disaster relief throughout the world. Our family loves chance to pack shoe boxes full of toys and gifts at Christmastime through Operation Christmas Child.
Well, Samaritan's Purse needs our help right now. There's a village in Niger (a country in Africa) that they are raising funds for. This campaign is short, just from July 10th-19th. The goal of this Raise a Village campaign is to help 1,400 villagers by raising $85,000. Samaritan's Purse hopes to " improve[ing] livestock and food production, giving them the means to pay for the food and medicine they need, and expanding access to clean water."
Will you help? You can go here to make a tax-deductible donation of any size. Can't donate? You can pray. You can tweet this. You can spread the word!
I'm happy to tweet this! Love Samaritans Purse. And after visiting Haiti this year on a mission trip I know firsthand how simple things we take for granted here have a HUGE impact elsewhere.
ReplyDeleteThanks Katy! Yes, last year I learned that in Uganda, a box of crayons costs something like a week's income! Kids can't go to school because they can't afford the basic supplies! I am more than happy to buy a box of crayons and stuff it in a shoebox of supplies to be sent!
DeleteFabulous organization. My boys have raised money through Sunday school and youth group for this and we've done the shoe boxes too.
ReplyDeleteThat is great that the youth group got involved!
DeleteThanks for posting this! I will tweet it as well!
ReplyDeleteI appreciate it Tess :)
