Things My Kids Argued About
Ahhh family vacations. There really is no such thing as a "family" vacation, it's just eating, pooping, and bickering in a different location.
We went out of town last weekend for a family vacation to an amusement park. It was quite fun. However, of course during 7+ hours in a car, the kids found some unique things to argue over. Here they are, in no particular order:
We went out of town last weekend for a family vacation to an amusement park. It was quite fun. However, of course during 7+ hours in a car, the kids found some unique things to argue over. Here they are, in no particular order:
- Whose foot is on which parent's head rest.
- Someone got the last local baseball schedule freebie calendar from a Fazoli's and the other was extremely upset that he didn't also get one. This preceded 20 minutes of my life that I spent trying to coax the baseball schedule owner to share with the non-schedule owner.
- Whose stuff is in the middle of the seat and whether or not it should be there.
- 4 year old got a long net on a stick from Bass Pro Shops. This was a rookie parenting mistake that we should be ashamed of ourselves for. Because of course then he tapped it on the windows and came dangerously close to whacking Big Brother in the face with it.
- Whether or not the net (see #4) was too far over the center of the seats (see #3).
- Someone grabbed a free fishing catalog from Bass Pro Shops and someone else did not. Similarly to #2, the non-catalog owner was quite upset that he didn't have one. There were tears involved.
What crazy things have your kids bickered about? It seems like they can always find something. :) Nevertheless, it was actually a lot of good family time!
But remember,

Minecraft Birthday Party Favors
My son recently turned eleven. I gave him several choices of what we could do and he chose to take friends to Sky Zone (an indoor trampoline park. If you have one, you MUST go) and then lunch at Pizza Hut.
He chose a Minecraft cake and we hired a friend to make. Her cakes taste awesome and she's got a knack for decorating them. It was fantastic. Except for the fact that little brother snuck into the cake the night before the party. Notice the sideways handprint...
Anyway, I put together these Creeper Minecraft themed goody bags for him and his friends. They were a big hit!
The green bags were from the party section at walmart and I added the creeper faces with Sharpie. I scored the Minecraft box from Target's toy section. It was nearly empty so I took it and the cashier said I could have the box! I knew it would be perfect for displaying the party favors, plus we are using it as a bedroom decoration/storage now.

be sure to "pin" this post so you can find it later! :)

DIY "Notebook Paper" Bag-- Teacher Gift
A couple weeks ago, I showed you the gift I gave a principal, today I'll show you what I made for two teachers!
This easy DIY uses a 3-pack of canvas tote bags (Michaels, $10), a straight edge (I used spare cardboard), and a pack of fabric pens (Michaels, $14). Total cost-$25 for 3 bags...can be less if you have a coupon!
Simply lay the straight edge on your bag and make horizontal blue lines down the bag. Then, a few inches from the left side, make one red vertical line with your paint pen. Use a black fabric pen to write the teacher's name if desired.
These fit perfectly into a shirt box lined with tissue paper. Then I wrapped them in brown kraft paper and added some blue yarn from the gift wrap section at Target. (I was all about a good presentation for these!).
They were a big hit, and not something the teacher is likely to get a duplicate of!
You could also make one of these and then fill it with items for the teacher, a small potted plant, or some school supplies, or a magazine and beach towel, etc.
Happy school-is-almost-out!
