Kid-Friendly Travel Snacks

Ahhhh road trips with children.  We're gearing up for one so I have been looking for good snack ideas to take with us that won't cause a mess or a sugar rush.

This seems particularly genius (if you have a non-clumsy child who won't spill the whole thing)

Get an organizer type thing and put all their snacks in the one container.  I like it, but doubt that my kids could deal with everything open and all at once.  I like her variety of snacks though and will copy that into little individual baggies.
  • Almonds
  • Dry Cereal
  • Orange wedges
  • Granola Bar
  • Graham Crackers
  • Slim Jims (my addition)
  • CheezeIt crackers (my addition)

I am thinking that I will label each one with a time and then dole them out accordingly.  "2pm, time for your next snack!"  "3:15, snack time!"

My thinking is that keeping a steady flow of snacks will give the kids some variety to the car ride and (cross your fingers) keep them from too much arguing, looking out each other's windows (OMG), poking each other, and otherwise annoying the daylights out of the grownups in the car.

  2. That is a great idea! But my little ones won't be able to handle this. I know we will have a big mess. In fact, we already do without the organizer!
